CCCB Coral Museum was established in 1999 by coral artist Mr. Lai Rongxing 賴榮興 in his own private residence to help preserve Nanfang’ao’s precious coral culture and traditional coral art. Main displays in the museum include the蠻荒世界, a piece which received Japan’s top award for coral sculpture, other works spanning several decades, and stories about the precious coral industry.
The full Chinese name of the museum includes the Buddhist term for “world” or “Dharmadhātu”. You might wonder why that is, but if you study Mr. Lai’s works for any length of time, you will understand.
