Blessing Flower is an intangible cultural asset of Taiwan founded in 2013 by Chen Huimei to preserve “chan hua”, a handicraft that literally means “wrapped” or “entwined” “flowers”. Blessing Flower’s main purpose is to preserve this traditional art form which is gradually disappearing in Taiwan. Chen used to be a leather sculptor, but through pure serendipity, she met “Grandma Aiyu”, a chan hua artist already quite advanced in years. When Chen saw the soft, delicate beauty, it was love at first sight and she asked Grandma Aiyu to teach her. Since then, Chen has been immersed in the art of chan hua which has become a delightful lifelong vocation for her. It is her hope that Blessing Flower can become the permanent home of cha hua, so that those who feel as she does can join her in promoting and carrying forward this traditional craft of Taiwan.
