After Takeshi Kaneshiro gave us the phrase “The faster the world goes, the slower the heart does”, the Yilan Literary Museum became a must-visit destination for photos and afternoon tea, but did you know that it used to be the living quarters for the president of a school of agriculture and the Yilan Music Museum?
Take some time out of your busy schedule to come to the Yilan Literary Museum, an old Japanese structure with many stories to tell. Slow down, read something, enjoy some tea and snacks, and examine the marks of time hidden away in the tatamis. You can also take in lectures organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs to hear the observations of writers on life.
(You can also go next door and enjoy a nice meal at the 舊主秘公館, which is managed by the Kyukoku Japanese Restaurant.)
